A Day About Animal Classification

Animals are classified in a variety of ways. This helps scientists to study the relationships in animal groups and to see the whole animal family tree. The fact that scales are a characteristic that make a fish a fish and not a mammal may seem obvious to you or I, but to a 2nd grader, focus on these differences introduces the learning mind to the many unique details that make our planet diverse.
